The Hessle Road Network is a community organisation that was started by a group of concerned residents in 1999. Each of the Directors is a local person with wide experience in the voluntary and community sector and a real experience of living in this part of West Hull. Originally formed to help the community to engage with regeneration issues, the Network quickly found that residents were very concerned with the lack of provision for young people living in the Hessle Road area. We gained some funding to work with them, originally with a part-time co-ordinator. Ten years later we are now a major youth services provider, yet we maintain our close links with our community through our directors and their involvement in many aspects of community life.

Apart from providing activities, education and training for young people, we also have a major project to provide a high quality purpose build youth centre in our area. The new Youth Centre has been developed in conjunction with our young people who met regularly with the architects to arrive at the final design. We expect Phase One of the new build to begin early in 2010, and are looking to fund Phase Two (£250,000) during the construction period and Phase Three (£1.4m) in the future.
