DBS Disclosure Service
Hessle Road Network is an Umbrella Body, registered to carry out full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure checks.
We offer a cost-effective service to voluntary, community and commercial sectors.
What is the DBS Disclosure Service?
The DBS was established under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 and merges the functions previously carried out by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
The DBS Disclosure Service uses records held by the police, the Department of Health and the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) to make thorough checks on all staff working or applying to work with children and vulnerable adults.
Why is a Disclosure required?
When you apply for certain types of job you may be asked to apply for a criminal record check. These are generally jobs that mean you:
- will be working regularly with children or vulnerable people
- will be working in an establishment that is wholly or mainly for children
- will be working in healthcare
- have applied to be a foster carer, adoptive parent or childminder
A Disclosure allows employers to make informed recruitment decisions and helps prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups including children.
As part of our service we will:
Supply you with DBS Disclosure application forms and easy-to-follow guidance to help you complete applications.
Send applications to the DBS within 24 of hours of receipt (unless queries arise).
Handle all information securely and confidentially in line with the DBS Code of Practice.
Carry out ID checking and authorisation, unless you wish to nominate someone from your organisation to do this.
Offer advice on DBS policy and procedure.
